Rev. Holly Gunby

Pastor Holly Gunby has been involved with some sort of ministry since 1980, whether it was as youth representative to church counsel, organizing youth events and discussions, registrar for Holden youth weekends, retreat speaker, or taking to the pulpit to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ. Throughout seminary at Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, she had a passion for grief and one-on-one ministry. Serving First Lutheran Church in Ketchikan, Alaska, and Wilbur, Wash., she focused on visiting every member of the congregation and provided ministry in times of hardship.

Today, after completing a Clinical Pastoral Education Residency and Fellowship in Palliative Care at the Portland Veterans Administration Hospital, Gunby now works as a chaplain at Sacred Heart Medical Center. Spokane has been her home base since her parents retired in Spokane Valley in 1979. She bought her first house in the valley in 2014 where she lives with her two four-legged girls, Tilli and Bella. Yard puttering, anything outdoors, and arts and crafts keep her busy when not helping family or watching some science-fiction show on TV.
